Eight years ago, I left the east coast of the U.S. and came to California. I was 28, confused and unhappy. Before arriving in the west coast, I spent 3 months in the South Pacific, living in villages and going on long walks. At the end of my trip, I came to Big Sur and lived in a small community that focused on exploring the human potential. I was exposed to a multitude of disciplines in mind/body and healing therapies, learned how to grow food, and met people from all over the world.

I left Big Sur in 2008 seeking a new balance in a new place. I am still on that journey and finding it to be a very colorful and rewarding experience. Not always easy, sometimes scary, tense, uncertain and challenging. But I am learning many things, finding my place in society and recreating myself again and again. When I left 8 years ago I was quite lost. Now I am still lost as ever, but there is also a lot of vitality, freshness, ease and nourishment.

Carmel gained when you left Big Sur. Life is what happens when you are busy looking for it.
