Material wealth does not necessarily make for happiness. Nor does fame. Hope is life's greatest treasure. A life without hope is bleak and gray. If you have no hope, create some.

A Better Life - It Is Up To You!
4/27/2010

Do you wish your life was different? Maybe you want a better job, a pay increase, to lose weight or get a college degree. What are you doing to change your life? Life changes don't just happen. They are the result of dreams, goals and action. You may have the goals and dreams, but are you taking action?

It would be nice if we could just sit back and achieve our wildest dreams, but the fact is that just doesn't happen! Reaching your goals is only possible if work hard to achieve them. That means creating an action plan and then following it through to the very end.

So where do you start? First of all you should write your goal down. Something about having the goal or dream written down on paper makes it real, not just a thought in your head. Next, post your goal around your house so you are reminded of it throughout the day. Maybe even put a copy of your goal in your car or as the desktop background of your computer. Where ever you choose to post it, make sure it is somewhere you will see it several time a day. This puts your goal in the forefront of your mind so you are constantly thinking of it. By having the goal on your mind you will be more likely to notice and opportunity to help you achieve it.

Next make a list of things that you can accomplish that will help you reach your goal. For instance, if your goal is to go back to school to get a degree, write down things such as getting a course catalog, checking into the registration process, and finding ways to finance your education. Make sure the list is of things that will actually move you closer to your goal and that each thing on the list is doable. If your goal is to lose weight, don't put 'lose 20 pounds by next Saturday' on your list because that isn't realistic.

Now take action! Move forward with your list of items that will help you achieve your goal. As you accomplish one thing, add another item to the list. As you complete items on the list you will find yourself working harder to progress. That is because seeing the little victories on your to do list help motivate you toward the bigger goal.

You can change your life by taking action. Let your own hard work and initiative be the key to achieving your goals. Success is much sweeter when you earn it.
