To talk with someone, ask a question first, then-- listen. - Antonio Machado
Who are you?
Whatever answer springs from the riches of your inner life can now warm the hearts of all who are open. Me! Please come in.
What is deep in my soul now has new life in yours. The responses may fill an evening or a lifetime; they may provide riches enough for a new world.
To talk with another is amazing intimacy. The miracle of language leaps the abyss between human hearts.
Say more; we've just begun. Wonderful tales. What stories! They remind me of what I thought forgotten. But here it is, new again, ready to surprise and delight.
Now I'll tell you a story; it's so simple. It takes your breath away? That little yarn from so long ago?
Oh yes, of course! It brings another time- and another story that you will tell me.
I hear the voices of the world. I listen to songs of the nations. I feel the embrace of the gods. I am wrapped in your telling.
You live in my story. I am drawn inside of your tale. I guess that means we love each other.
Amen.
