Let's Go For a Whim
6/17/2010

How often do you follow up on an urge to do something creative or enjoyable? Do you ever get a creative idea for your home or at work but feel afraid to act on it because someone might be critical of you and your idea? If so, it's time to say, "Who cares what they think?" If you feel the urge to do something, do it.
Why restrict yourself to serious thoughts and activities? Let the child in your indulge its whims and moods. Do things that in your view improve the world or hat just give you a moment of joy. What may seem like work to others can be time joyfully spent by you.
When a child gets involved in a fun activity that you don't feel is educational or meaningful, as long as it's not harmful, let her be. Or better yet, join her and learn what it feels like to just involve yourself in your emotions and desires. Never say that an activity that feels good doesn't make sense. It makes a lot of sense to do what feels good.
Solution of the Day: Every week indulge your whims. It will improve your life. Learn to grow down, not up.
